New York Urban League (NYUL)

I have had a wonderful experience working with the New York Urban League board on their The State of Black New York report. I worked with a manager and another designer to complete this project. This project merged their old brand with the new branding. Their old brand was bright and bold, and they wanted to keep some aspects of history and bring in their modern, sleek redesign. As the project progressed, we added additional deliverables to assist the client during press engagements.

Client: Arva Rice, CEO of NYUL

Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Design, Adobe Photoshop, PPT

Role: Graphic Designer

Problem

NYUL had been rebranded and the updated style was very clean and modern. They were use to a vibrant color palette, illustations and imagery. The goal was to combine the old look with the rebrand for a vital report on the State of the Black NY.

Challenges

• To create a design that was between the old and new brands, a middle point that would ease the client into their new brand

• Take a 50 page report and condense it and rebrand the report and inforgraphics for PPT

Deliverables

• State of Black New York Annual PowerPoint report

• PowerPoint toolkit

• Pamphlet (brochure)

• Biography template

• Merchandise Logo and Icons

“…The report provides statistical analysis of the education, income, health, criminal justice and civic engagement of Black New Yorkers.  I know that you recognize the importance of this research at this time of heightened awareness of racial disparities.   The report will premiere on NY1's In Focus with Cheryl Wills on November 19th.  We would not be able to share our report without the pro bono support of White & Case.”

— Arva Rice, CEO of NYUL letter to Hugh Verrier Chairman of White & Case
